Depressed, Lonely, or Sad?

If you are feeling lonely, sad, or depressed and wondering why your life is not going the way you want it to here’s what you need to do today. Find something or someone you can help.  There are many nursing homes, homeless shelters, or animal rescue organizations who would welcome your help. Sometimes when we are feeling sad or lonely it’s because we get too focused on ourselves. Turning your focus outward and focusing on something else will help fill the void and unhappiness in your own life.

If you don’t want to contact an organized charity, then just find someone in your own neighborhood to help. Even if it’s talking to someone you see living on the street (be cautious and assess the situation first) or helping an infirmed person by bringing them a meal. Or go to your neighborhood church and ask if you can help there. Anything to get the focus off of your own sadness, depression, or loneliness. Once you start helping someone else less fortunate than you, the next step is to turn your thoughts to gratitude for what you do have, instead of focusing on what you don’t have.
