Self-Esteem: You Are Good Enough

Most of us are bombarded with negative messages that I call “the lies of the evil one.” We feel like we are never good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, handsome enough, rich enough, thin enough, or loving enough. To feel better about ourselves and boost our self-esteem we must be intentional about replacing these lies with the truth and the promises of God.

According to Biblical teachings, we are all created in the image of God, we are chosen, we are just who we are supposed to be, and we are “good enough.” It doesn’t mean we won’t occasionally rough days or that there’s no room for improving ourselves. It doesn’t mean we’ll be able to avoid heartache, illness, and tough times. It’s an attitude of knowing that somehow, and in our darkest times, the sun will shine again.

I find a lot of truth in one of my favorite quotes by Tozer: “The first thing that comes to mind when you think about God, is the most important thing about you.”

Even if you embrace a different faith than mine, I would encourage you to seek God and spend time alone with him each day. Get to know Him and allow Him to get to know you. The goal is to have a personal relationship with your creator. The quality of your life depends on it. And remember…

-God loves you no matter what.

-God is there for you at all times.

-God will provide what you need.

-God is at work in others.
