Manage Your Moods

We are emotional beings. It’s the way we’re created. We feel pleasure, pain, frustration, hurt, and anger, and more. Managing our moods can be challenging but there are ways to cut-back on things that negatively influence them.

The internet is helpful and full of great information, yet at the same time, social media has become an addiction for some. If you spend hours researching the latest fashion or hair craze, recent celebrity happenings, or even current events in the news, be aware.  You will slowly become like what you allow into your life.

If you are feeling oversensitive, aggravated, anxious, or unusually upset over trivial things, consider turning off the television, and limit your exposure to things posted via the internet. Try reading a good book instead. One that will help you grow and become a more productive, thoughtful person. One of my favorite books is “Man’s Search for Meaning,” by Viktor Frankl; and of course, the Bible helps remind me of how much God cares for me and how he has led many people through many bad moods and challenges through the centuries. He did it for them and he can do it for me!

Spend time outside. Take a walk. Take in the beauty all around you. If you are used to eating your lunch in the same place, find a picnic bench at a park and enjoy your sandwich there instead of at your kitchen table.

Remember: if you don’t manage your moods, they will manage you.
