Decisions and Destiny

Making decisions is a common occurrence. The choices we make today will impact our future, so each decision needs to be considered and weighed before acting. Even the smallest decision sets off a chain of events, with each incidence influencing and impacting our future.

Decisions concerning your health, finances, where you live, who you date or marry, when or if to have children, and then the decisions that come once you have children. All of these types of decisions are big ones, and ones that will make a huge difference in determining your future and your destiny.

Sometimes we are scared to decide because we don’t think we have all the facts, but if you only have some of the facts, you still need to decide anyway. There’s something called “gut” and sometimes you have to just go with that. Steve Jobs used to say that his “intuition was much more important than his intellect.” You cannot live your life in uncertainty and in limbo, so sometimes you have to make decisions without having all the information you want.

Remember the letters H-A-L-T (“HALT”) which stand for never making a major decision when you’re Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. Walk away, put it to rest a few minutes, hours, or days.  The size of your decision will determine the thought and weight you put into it. Remember, you have to live with whatever you decide, so be thoughtful and wise, your decisions will determine your destiny.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”   Matthew 7:13,14
